About Logo One
This logo was generated using the excellent
Inkscape. The logo is entirely composed
of spirals. In Inkscape, all spirals are modelled as general
archimedian spirals
which have polar equations of the form: r = a+ b * θ ^ (1/x). Inkscape
refers to the 1/x term as the divergence.
- Only the G and the dot above the i are
true archimedian spirals (in the sense that the divergence is exactly one) –
in such spirals, successive crossings of a given radius are constantly spaced.
- The letters o and r are actually
circular arcs. These are degenerate instances of spirals where the divergence is
zero.
- The underline is strictly speaking a straight line, but I considered this to
be another degenerate spiral; one with infinte divergence.
